Terms of use

Last updated Sep 20, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Anthony Pradier, the publisher of Texifine. Creating an account means accepting them. They are written to be read: if something is unclear, ask at contact@texifine.com.

What Texifine is

Texifine is a web application for writing structured documents in blocks and compiling them into PDF files with LaTeX. Who publishes it and who hosts it is set out in the Legal notice; what happens to your personal data is described in the Privacy policy.

The beta, and what it means

Texifine is in beta and free. It is provided as it is: features can change, move or disappear, and interruptions are possible.

Your work is taken seriously — documents are stored, backed up and deletable — but a beta is a beta: download the PDF of anything you could not afford to lose. You can do it at any time from the editor or from a document's menu.

Paid plans may be introduced later. They will have their own terms of sale, presented before any payment, and they will never apply to a period you have already used for free.

Your account

  • You must be at least 15 years old.
  • Give a real email address: it is how your account is verified and how a lost password is recovered.
  • An account belongs to one person. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us at contact@texifine.com if you believe someone else is using your account.
  • You are responsible for what is done from your account.

Your content stays yours

Everything you write in Texifine belongs to you. The publisher claims no ownership of it and will not publish it, sell it, or use it to train anything.

To run the service, and only for that, you allow Texifine to store your documents, process them, compile them into PDFs, generate their previews and display them back to you.

A document you mark as public can be read by any signed-in person who has its link. Making it private again ends that access.

You are responsible for what you write: it must be lawful and must not infringe anyone's rights.

What you may not do

  • Store or share unlawful content, or content that infringes someone's copyright, privacy or other rights.
  • Impersonate someone else, or use an account that is not yours.
  • Try to reach other users' documents, or to escape the isolation of the compilation environment.
  • Use the service through automated means to generate mass compilations, resell its computing capacity, or otherwise degrade it for others.
  • Work around the technical limits of the service, such as file sizes or compilation quotas.

Availability and support

The service is kept running as best as it reasonably can be, but no availability is guaranteed during the free beta, and maintenance can interrupt it.

Support is by email at contact@texifine.com.

Ending the agreement

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your documents, their files, their compilations and your labels go with it, and nothing can be restored afterwards.

An account that breaches these terms or the law may be suspended or closed. Except where the breach is serious or the law requires immediate action, you will be told first and given a chance to respond and to retrieve your documents.

Liability

The service is provided as it is during the free beta. To the extent the law allows, the publisher is not liable for indirect damage, such as loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or the cost of recreating content you did not keep a copy of.

Nothing here removes liability that cannot be excluded by law, nor the rights you have as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

These terms will change as Texifine grows. Any change that matters will be announced by email or in the application before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service afterwards means accepting the new version; if you would rather not, you can delete your account.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings before its courts.

In case of a dispute, please write to contact@texifine.com first: most things are settled faster that way. Consumer mediation applies to paid services; while Texifine is free, no mediator is appointed, and this will be updated with the first paid plan.
